In response to your comment, the site did express some math in regards to the average times a person breaths each year. "On average, you breathe 23,000 times a day. You take about 600 million breaths during your lifetime." Those numbers crunch down to 8,386,560 a year, 23,040 times a day, 960 times an hour, and 16 times a minute. The 600 million breaths a life time is based on a 71 year 5 month 4 day life span! Of course these are all rough figures considering the breath per second ratio can vary heavily between active and non active times, age, gender, weight, body size, and physical fitness. So in light of that, enjoy!

60,000 miles of blood vessels but only 45 miles of nerves? Better check your figures. I have read 45 miles in the skin alone, and over 60,000 miles in the rest of the body. There are over 100 billion nerve cells in the brain. The nerve system communicates with virtually every cell in the body as does the blood vascular system. It is well over 45 miles.

Turtles breathe 7 to 8 times a minute and live far over 100 years. These are general speeds, and it varies such as physical activity. Birds and mosquitoes die much faster. Their metabolism is much higher and the smaller animals are 'far' faster than any human. Turtles are 'very' slow.
